Employee Recipient: Kim Bass, RN, Palms West Hospital, Loxahatchee, FL When Kim Bass was young, she didn’t like hospitals; just walking into one could make her faint. Thirty years later, there’s nowhere she feels more at home. “When I was in nursing school and got to labor and delivery, I just knew,” she says. “With OB, it’s happening now. You get to help women at their most vulnerable point, and you have to take control and reassure them. Meet the 2015 HCA Awards of Distinction Recipients

HCA today presented the 2015 HCA Awards of Distinction to recipients at a ceremony in Nashville. The HCA Awards of Distinction include the Frist Humanitarian Award, the HCA Innovators Award and the HCA Excellence in Nursing Award, and are the highest honors that HCA bestows on employees, physicians and volunteers. This is the first time the company has recognized all three HCA Awards of Distinction categories in one celebration. The Frist Humanitarian Award, the oldest award in HCA history, recognizes the highest achievements in serving others; the HCA Innovators Award, founded in 2010, recognizes creative new ideas for enhancing quality… Read more.

Meet the 2012 Frist Humanitarian Award Winners

This week we honored the recipients of our 2012 Frist Humanitarian Award. The award is named after Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr., a founder of HCA and a true humanitarian. Since 1971, we’ve honored employees and hospital volunteers annually who demonstrate this same dedication to caring for others with The Frist Humanitarian Award. Volunteer recipients of the award receive a $5,000 donation to the charity of their choice and $5,000 in cash to use as they wish. Medical staff and employee recipients receive a $10,000 donation to the charity of their choice.
